Oscar | Franklin Newborn Photographer

I met Oscar’s family a few years ago with the arrival of big sister Isla. We have always had amazing sessions together and they are such a fun and laid back family to photograph. So I was so excited to meet Oscar. Although we didn’t have the weather to take Oscar outside we still got some really beautiful images in his new home. Enjoy!!

Headshots with Heart | Nashville Baby Photographer

This quarter’s Headshots with Heart will benefit Nashville Diaper Connection through a diaper drive.

A little background on Headshots with Heart.

Nashville is such an amazing city. It truly exemplifies what southerners are. We are gracious yet straight forward. We are kind yet strong willed. We are modest yet proud. When the need arises we are there to help our fellow Nashvillians out.

Headshots with Heart. This will be a quarterly event that will benefit a community organization in need. The headshots for individuals will be free. You will bring the requested item which will always be cheaper than a headshot but more valuable than we realize to the person in need.

Every professional needs a headshot now that social media plays such an important role in our professional lives. (Oh and I admit – I need a headshot). The cropped vacation photo or selfie just isn’t what the professional world wants to see. More the creative type and not the stuffy suit type? No worries – your head shots should reflect the field you are in.

If you need a current headshot then here is your chance!! Just call or email to book a time slot.

Also thanks to Ashley for sharing her beautiful face and precious time to help make this project come to life.

Choosing A Print Lab | Franklin Baby Photographer

“I just want to purchase digitals. I’ll get them printed myself.”

Have you said this before? Did you watch your photographer slightly cringe at those words? Wanna know why? Take a look at the images below. It’s the same image with same information but processed from different print labs.

lab comparison

The image in the upper left is my edit. This is the full resolution image I send off to my lab – Millers Professional Imaging Lab. My Mac is calibrated to their printers and papers. So what I send to them is going to look like what I sent. If it doesn’t I can send it back or even sometimes they will call me and let me know an image has gone quirky in transit. Now what happens when I send that image to Wal-Mart. Holy Cow! Now this sweet lil’ guy looks like he has a serious circulation problem or is freezing. Blue on a baby is never good.

“I don’t have access to your lab but invested in the digitals and want to print ten of an image for family as gifts – Who do I use?”

I don’t think your family wants to frame a blue baby regardless how cute. So I would suggest Mpix. It’s the closest public lab. I even like to say it’s the cousin to my lab. It may be a few more cents than CVS but don’t you think it’s worth it?

“My wedding images are from a different photographer – can I still use Mpix?”

I can’t answer that because they could have used a different lab for processing. You would want to talk to that photographer.

“I’m just scrapbooking with these photos. I don’t want to spend a lot of money. ”

Here’s some full disclosure. When I scrapbook or know I’m using the image for a collage at the girl’s school I order them from Walgreens. They are ready in an hour and cost basically nothing.

I hope this helps you make the decision on which lab to use in the future. Also if you’re thinking of buying just digitals and no prints you may want to read this article { Digital Delimma } and order some prints from your photographer next time. This is the main reason I encourage clients to order albums. I want you to always have these moments and memories.

What to Wear Wednesday | Dressing a Larger Bust

First off let me say I can write about this for a couple reasons.

1. I’m a photographer and see what looks good through the lens and not. I’m honest. I want you to love your images. I want you to cover those tatas for photos so you love your images.

2. I am large busted and understand the battle.

So to make you LOOK  YOUR BEST in the photos and have the attention on your family and not “the girls” here are some super in style items to avoid in photo sessions.

Avoid stripes in the bust area. Heck for that matter in photo sessions let’s just avoid stripes period. Because…..

no stripes
Avoid high necks and low v-necks.

Enough said. However if you must wear a high neck add a statement necklace to give a visual break up of the larger area.

Avoid vests and many layers.

I know us photographers love layers in photos but those layers are only going to add a couple sizes to your silhouette. Sure stylish but being caught mid hug with your child with all that bunching and layering…not flattering.

Choose v-necks (not loose), wrap shirts and ballet necklines.

Still confused! Visit this website just for us to help out.

Here’s another great combinations to help you out in this department.
