This blog post is not about drs visits or a list of things you must do but instead a list of ways to practice self-care, stay connected to you and your partner and feel good emotionally and mentally. It's about the sweet spot where the discomfort has usually passed and the pregnancy glow is in full effect. This typically happens in the second trimester (14-28 weeks).

So what to do now....let's get to planning.

The Babymoon

Did you know that almost 60% of parents-to-be report taking a baby moon. That means there are  more than 2 million babymooners in the US each year! Babymoons are a chance for you to reconnect with your partner and yourself. So much of being pregnant is about the baby. It's important to take time for you. I did a baby moon with my first to Phoenix and Sedona. We treated me to spa time, amazing food and some outdoor hiking - light. Check out the link below for some other ideas.

Maternity Portraits

This is one a lot of people overlook and I get it! Most women not pregnant don't want to step in front of the camera but I promise you if you don't you will say "I wish I had" in those later years. I'm one of those people and I was a photographer at the time. So many photogs offered me a free session but I passed. Now I can't get that back. I understand women and their vulnerability to get in front of the camera so that's why I make my sessions glam and a bit over the top. I want my mommas to feel completely special and know it's all about them for a few moments in their lives.

Decorate the Nursery

This is one of a momma to be's favorite things - this is after all where both you and your baby will spend a lot of time.

Prenatal Yoga

I love yoga and know how healing it can be for your body. Yoga also teaches you how to breathe efficiently (super helpful in labor) and relax yourself in your everyday life. A great local spot for true yoga is New Moon Yoga in Cool Springs. Try gentle, yin or prenatal. The instructors there are amazing at adjusting instruction to fit your needs.

Go Shopping!

This is self explanatory but shop for yourself as well. Don't forget about you!

Plan Ahead -

Don’t wait until the second trimester to start planning these things. During first trimester when you may feel a bit yucky start researching a book the baby moon. Create your registry and start thinking about theme, style and if you’re going to want anything custom.
